This tutorial shows how to perform a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis in FEBio, for the case of flow past a flap. The flap deformation under the action of a prescribed pulsatile fluid pressure produces large deformations in the fluid-FSI mesh, which is regularized by assigning a mapped elastic modulus to the mesh. This mapping decreases the elastic modulus from the vicinity of the flap to the edge of the fluid domain, thus minimizing excessive mesh distortion in the flap vicinity.
