Installing the FEBio Software Suite on Linux

NOTE: Due to recent changes in the FEBio suite’s code, it is possible that you run into problems with shared libraries on Linux. If you have any problems please visit our forums, or contact us.

FEBio

Installation

To install FEBio on your Linux machine, simply unpack the contents of the zip file to the directory of your choice.

To simplify launching FEBio, you may wish to add the FEBio bin directory to your PATH variable, create a symbolic link to febio2.lnx64 in a system bin directory, or set up an alias to launch FEBio.

Testing

To test that FEBio has been installed correctly:

  1. Open a terminal
  2. Navigate to FEBio’s bin directory
  3. Launch FEBio with the command: ./febio2.lnx64

If the software has been installed correctly, you should see the FEBio greeting message:

PreView

Installation

To install PreView on your machine:

  1. Extract the .run file from the zip file to the directory of your choice.
  2. Run the .run file by double-clicking on it.
  3. Follow the instructions on the Setup Wizard.

Testing

To test that PreView has been installed correctly:

  1. Navigate to the installation directory.
  2. Double click on preview.lnx64

If the software has been installed correctly, you should see a new PreView window:

PostView

Installation

To install PostView on your machine, simply unpack the contents of the zip file to the directory of your choice.

Testing

To test that PostView has been installed correctly:

  1. Navigate to the installation directory.
  2. Double click on PostView2

If the software has been installed correctly, you should see a new PostView window:
